This is 1 of 3 cover illustration options for the 2007-2008 Hickman High School concert series program. The school has concerts and musicals featuring the school's music department and use this to document the groups as well as their memories. It's sort of like a school year book but only focusing on the music department.

I put it in editorial design because the entire project is a 30+ page booklet. I won't be posting the inside because it is full of pictures that I won't have permission to post. The faint line down the center also denotes where the cover would fold.

This year I wanted to really focus on using texture as the two previous years have mainly been flat areas of color. So I let the notes make their own texture. The ribbon-like things also give it nice, active motion.

The school's colors are purple and gold.

This time I just wanted to try something trendy and used the patterns often seen in the designs gallery as inspiration. One main difference was not using any splatters, other grunge affects, and letting the symbols create the texture.

The school also wanted a combination of a classy symposium as well as the relaxed, fun nature of the high school atmosphere. This cover is probably more casual than V. 1. and V. 3.

The spacing still needs to be adjusted on the cover. I will upload a new picture once I have it. The final project won't be completed until September so still plenty of time to change things.
