This is 1 of 3 cover illustration options for the 2008-2009 Hickman High School concert series program. The school has concerts and musicals featuring the school's music department and use this to document the groups as well as their memories. It's sort of like a school year book but only focusing on the music department. The school's colors are purple and gold.

I put it in editorial design because the entire project is a 30+ page booklet. I won't be posting the inside because it is full of pictures that I won't have permission to post. The white line down the center also denotes where the cover would fold.

This year I wanted to really focus on referencing as many parts of the music department as possible. One group is going to Austria and Germany so I couldn't pass up the chance to incorporate the grand artistic history of these two countries into the cover starting with a reference to Joseph Beuys' Infiltration Homogeneous for Grand Piano. But instead of the piano remaining silent, the felt will fall away as patrons leaf through the program.

Other references to the department include:
- The 1960 era typography and styling = when the performed musical productions were originally released and when Beuys was most active
- The piano itself = Orchestras
- Symbols made of thread = Choral groups

The spacing still needs to be adjusted on the cover. I will upload a new picture once I have it. The final project won't be completed until September so still plenty of time to change things.
